Diagnosis
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

How do doctors give diagnosis when so my things have the same symptoms ???? How can they tell what is what. Not all can be found with blood test.šŸ¤”

A MySpondylitisTeam Member

This is one of the reasons it takes so long to get a proper diagnosis and sometimes you end up diagnosed and then rediagnosed. So many of the symptoms overlap, it's really about watching how theā€¦ read more

Info My Neurologist Told Me About Nerve Ablation And Spinal Cord Stimulators.
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

My neuro is absolutely against spinal cord stimulators and ablation, I didnā€™t ask why he was against ablation. But he said they seldom get the spinal cord stimulators in the right place. If the placement is good it might work. He said the technology has not advanced where they can position the probe into proper position because if a person lays on a table they canā€™t tell where the weight bearing pressure is to place it effectively and if they stand the person up there is 100 pounds of whateverā€¦ read more

Do You Have Temperature Sensitivity And/or Night Sweats?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Iā€™m struggling with a constant ā€œitā€™s hot, now Iā€™m coldā€ dilemma during the day. Then when I go to bed, my body is sweating at a disgusting rate. Then Iā€™m freezing. Itā€™s really impacting my ability to get a a good nights sleep
The sweating seems to be along my neck and spine where the AS is the worst. Is it the AS
Iā€™ve tried the obvious things like - adjusting the temperature in the house, lighter blankets, etc.
I noticed that new patient forms ask if you have night sweats or chills butā€¦ read more

Chronic Neck Pain??
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Just wondering who else has neck pain and how common it is? I already had a double fusion for Cervical Myelopathy in 2020. My neck seems to bother me more than my back. Everyday it is on fire and feels very warm. I was told I also have AS at the Occipito-Atlanto-Axial Region.
Just wondering how common of a symptom this is? Thanks.

Tingling And Numbness In Arm - Anyone Else?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I started having some numbness and tingling in my right shoulder, down the arm and into the hand. This is 2nd time in a week it has happened. I can still move it, still feel like normal, no pain, no other symptoms (other than panic/anxiety thinking it might be a stroke) I mentioned it to my rheumatologist when i saw her last week and she said its probably a nerve as the other time happened when i was driving for a couple of hours..

Has something like this happened to anyone else?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member

Yes , my neck surgery helped a lot . I donā€™t get the numbness as bad when I drive long distance .

Do You Find Yourself Stretching And Moving Throughout The Day?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

It sounds like fidgeting but itā€™s different. Itā€™s from pain and not being able to stand or sit for any period of time. Stretching out my back, shoulders, ankles, hips. Itā€™s most annoying when Iā€™m trying to sit and have a conversation with family or friends. The itching and scratching from the Psoriasis must be a bonus for my audience šŸ˜

Does anyone have a regular need to stretch and move (up down up down) throughout their day ?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member

Hi KatJSassaman. God gave us reason. Pain is the body's warning that it is sick. The body is asking for help. It manifests itself in pain! We ignore the body. He gets NSAId instead of help. But that'sā€¦ read more

Eyesā€¦ Does Anyone Find Issues With Their Eyes/ Sight When They Have A Flare Up?
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Eyesā€¦ does anyone find issues with their eyes/ sight when they have a flare up? My vision goes from 20/20 to very bad hour by hour. They just started me on a steroid eye drop and another eye drop to see if that assists. Itā€™s rather unnerving to having your vision go and come back or to suddenly only see outlines.

A MySpondylitisTeam Member

Is your vision problems related to lower or upper back pain? I can't imagine any nerves in the lumbar region affecting vision but I can (just guessing) that cervical nerves could.
