What Is Your Experience With Humira?

I started on Humira in June. It is helping with my spine pain not with other joint pain (I can live with my other joint pain). I have had stomach issues the last couple of weeks…. not sure if it is side effect of Humira or my IBS acting up. If those issues get better then I will be doing well.

Humira (Adalimumab) is a prescription medication approved by the FDA to treat adults with active ankylosing spondylitis. It is also indicated for treating uveitis, a type of eye inflammation that can develop in people with spondyloarthritis. Humira is an immunomodulator and a biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD). It works by inhibiting tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), a chemical messenger involved in autoimmune attacks.

Administration:
- After an initial loading dose, Humira is administered every other week by subcutaneous injection.
- It is available as a pen or prefilled syringe.

Common Side Effects:
- Respiratory infections
- Headache
- Redness or irritation at injection sites
- Rash

Rare but Serious Side Effects:
- Severe allergic reactions
- Potentially fatal infections
- Increased risk for developing certain types of cancer, such as lymphoma
