A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Due to my chronic AS my primary doctor wrote a letter 3 months ago emphasizing my need to be able to take my two 15 minute and one 30 minute breaks during my 12 hour shift. 2 hours later, once home, I was called and asked by my director if I'd be open to trying a different position and after training we'd review and see how that is working. Once trained, I was solo and the day we were supposed to meet she did not come to work nor contact me since. The 12 - 13 hour shift is all sedentary and… read more

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. That a girl! GET EM!! I am so proud of and happy and inspired by you that I have goosebumps even though I don't work and have no intention of doing so anytime soon.( I know how fortunate I am and I thank him every time he walks by me, my providing man beyond my dreams. ) I hate that they're railroading you, and really warmed by the others who have given such awesome advice and support. B cubed gave some huge intelligent direction.

Kudos to you @A MySpondylitisTeam Member!! (B3) I want you on my legal team too!😄🥰

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member. You too girl!?! That just burns me up. Like life isn't hard enough when you're in constant crushing fatigue. No bathroom or stretch break is absurd and shouldn't require ANY document! What it requires is abiding by the 3 basic "Commons", Common Sense, Common Courtesy, and Common Decency. Jeez Louise!

If your company has more than a certain number of employees (it differs by state) they are required to abide by rules for FMLA, additionally your illness is covered as a disability and they are discriminating against you. Check into if you carry STD or LTD on your benefits sometimes we are paying into these and don’t realize that we are. Both can be used based on your condition with your doctors support. Please thoroughly read your employer manual as well. Often managers don’t even realize they violating the company’s own policies. I wish you the best of luck.

To you Denetrice, I agree. Lying down but will respond more as it unfolds. I have the appointment with Employee Health on Friday at 10 AM EST.

I really appreciate that, Lisa. I'm open and searching for what I need and it's so easy to say "it", here. Everyone just "gets it". 🙂
