Spondylitis can cause osteoporosis because bone density is measured in the lower spine and hips. Spondylitis causes degradation of bone and discs in the spine. Yes, it is normal, but not necessarily hand in hand. Its also possible to reverse osteoporosis back to osteopenia without medication if caught early. The medications to reverse it can be worse on the body than the disease. Diet and exercise is the best way to do this and it doesn't have to be drastic. I did this myself. Osteopenia at 47. Osteoporosis at 52. Back to osteopenia by 56 with walking, mild strength training, and dietary improvement. Low back pain was alleviated too.
So are you getting bone density tests to keep track and how often are you finding out your levels?
Yes about every 3 years
I just found out I have osteopenia and no one bothered to tell me this until I got the info from a nurse. Weird. I'm sorry you both have osteoporosis.
Same here Kendrick! Frustrating!! Sure hope you enjoy your afternoon!!!🌞
