Hey Y'all, I Was Diagnosed With Nr-axspa In August 2022... But NSAIDS Not Working...
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was first on meloxicam, but it made my lower back numb... switched to celebrex helped for a little while? But pain is 3-6 most days. Been seeing a physical therapist for 4 weeks, to strengthen core and quads... but pain is not getting better... thinking of getting 2nd opinion on nr-axspa before trying a biologic... I also have MS...

Hang in there with physical therapy Ashley. I've been doing it for about 15 years. It takes about 6 months to a full year for it to work. If you quit, your pain will get worse. A pain level of 3 to 6 is actually really good. I don't remember the last time i had a pain level as low as 3. Lately I've been happy with 6. Only steroids gets me less. Do the exercises as long as you can even after you are released from physical therapy. If you're thinking about trying a biologic, look up online how the one you're considering is formulated. Some of the popular ones are produced in Chinese hamster ovaries. It's amazing how tricky the pharmaceutical companies are at wording this. Some sites just say they are made with mammalian cells, others say CHO and don't divulge what CHO stands for. The truth can be found at EMA.EUROPA.EU, the European Medicines Agency. Also, ask your dr if he/she can run a cytokine panel on you to determine what type of cytokine(s) are causing your problems. Biologics target specific cytokines, not all the same. If you don't have the ones the medicine you take are meant to target it not only won't help you, but puts you at unnecessary risk for unwanted side affects. Read the fine print. Stay informed. Don't let them use your body as an experiment. 😌🙏
