Pseudoarthrosis
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had pseudoarthrosis ? ( failed fusion) I will be seeing another neurosurgeon in a few weeks to discuss options. Still not diagnosed with the right disease ! Dr says osteoarthritis I’m saying NOT ! Any chance someone else has gone through this I welcome any advice .

Well it took 6 months but went to Rheumatology Dr who informed me I had Spondylosis instead of Spondylitis up until that point believed it was Spondylitis. The pain Dr recommended trying again to have ablation on both sides. I believe I had better results with epidural injections but they don't last long. When this all started physical therapy in pool helped. At least gradually could walk again and have made some improvements! But it took a year to get MRI and some of these procedures are costly and don't work for long. It's been a long journey during last 2 years I just can't imagine what it must be like to have this for many years. The emotional side is overwhelming and not sure Dr's really are aware of this. In the beginning I learned right away take it day by day don't be so hard on self! And so glad for the people on this site have been a blessing to me. We are not alone. Some have different things going on but we all have pain and are learning every day new ways to deal with it.🙂

Hi Deb ,
Sorry to hear you’re in the same boat 🤔 how do you mean still on going process ? What did the surgeon say why it failed? Or what did they offer you for solution?

Hi,
I had mri, and ct scans have osteophyte complex multiple bone spurs multiple vertebrae so fun 😂 but my fusion failed due to my body not making the bone needed to make the complete fusion . Now level above needs fusion but I will be asking for disc replacement so I don’t have risk of failure ! Anybody else have this awful stuff ????? I need to know what to ask new surgeon and new rheumatologist bc so far I can’t find answers on what is attacking my joints/ body ! Sero neg on most blood tests also have aortic insufficiency. Something has to be associated???????

I had to have spurs removed from spine. They were pinching off different nerves. It helped a lot. I had 2 injections which did not help at all. You have to get an MRI to see if you have spurs causing your problem. Goodluck
