Speech / Tongue Effected / Saliva
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all

Hope you are doing well.

Does anyone have any problems with “stiffer speech” and resulting in “excess saliva”?

Speech, yup, mine is related to repeated inflammatory damage (Neurogenic) to cervical nerves that control speech. Sometimes my voice sounds raspy, too, which I thought was caused by my CPAP. Overtime, I learned it was Neurogenic. So, I learned to have fun with it, talking about movie scenes with characters using raspy voices. ..., if I can't think of one, I make up a character.

I know it’s something cause I can carry on a conversation and all of sudden words won’t come out but I see the word in my head or i quickly forget get what I was going to say next. It’s very frustrating for me cause 5 yrs ago it was fine.

Stiffer speech? Like you can't say the word at the moment but 5 minutes later you can
I hate the way my pillow looks in the morning it's from my mouth.
