When I found out I had AS, I had already destroyed my body and will to be active. My ability to have a better menu was out the window.
I pushed for my family to be active but to lead by example is better than arm chairing it.
I am not shy telling of my mistakes and pushing them to be better. But it's like the stories I got about going to school in 10 feet of snow uphill 15 miles away walking after doing chores since 4am. Yada, Yada. Lol.
I promote to exercise & the one I can do with AS is water exercises 3 times a week & yes somedays are just hard to get going but I do it because I know I can walk better, and it relieves some of the pain. I sleep better at night. Eating I am finding hard I always cooked from scratch & vegetables & fruit. I am trying to eat more fresh foods instead of canned and to stop using Aluminum foil.
I sure do promote exercise, som days are hard but I push to do it.
It is difficult to get young adults to learn from our experiences. I suggest better eating habits and exercise but ultimately it is their decision. Exercise is the thing I have not led by example on most of my life. Recently retired and doing exercise at the YMCA now and loving it. I hope my adult children catch the desire to do so soon.
