Acute Pseudo Locked Knee At Night?

A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Seriously, WTH? It's been happening on and off for the last two years, not too often, thank god, but damn. I'll just wake up in severe pain, crying out, and my knee is locked up, won't move. It's excruciating pain. I can't make it unlock. I can't stand on it. My brain goes into panic mode and I start thinking about how I'm going to even get down the stairs to go to the ER. It lasts about 7 to 10 minutes. Then it just unlocks and I am left with resulting throbbing pain. The next morning I'm… read more

Members connected over the frightening experience of sudden nighttime knee locking, with several sharing similar symptoms of severe pain, hyperextension, clicking, and tendons feeling more affected than the joint itself. Several members offered practical suggestions, including trying knee braces at night, getting X-rays to rule out mechanical damage, and watching specific physical therapy videos from Bob and Brad, though one member noted that when every suggested movement causes pain, it confirms how severe the problem has become. A recurring theme was the frustration of doctors dismissing symptoms with unhelpful advice like 'lose weight,' the unpredictable nature of autoimmune pain that can disappear as randomly as it appears, and the importance of advocating persistently for answers when quality of life is affected.

Rowan, I've been "there" for 26 Years! Chronic Pain and they Don't know Why! ("MAYBE you should a psychiatrist to help you "learn" how to COPE with your Pain) Oh Yeah! πŸ‘ŠπŸ€›πŸ˜« COPE with THIS". It drives you crazy doesn't it? I gave up on Doctors and meds. I stick to "Deep breathing" training and DEEP Meditation. ☯️ πŸ•‰οΈ πŸ’• I totally understand πŸ’ž If you need someone to "Vent" or listen, I enjoy the company.

All good videos, thank you. Yes, I've tried the knee brace at night. Both the soft and full on big brace with the support bones in it. I am going back to gp next week and am going to ask them to address this. The video of Bob and Brad....I've watched a lot from them before, but hadn't seen that one yet. You know when I know it's bad? When every test they show and motion makes me cringe and know I can't do that. "If it hurts, don't do it", uh, yeah. I'm out. lol

I am so sorry to hear this. It's sounds painful and frightening. I have on going knee problems with pain, popping and sometimes a jolt, but I have not had this. I hope your rheumatologist can help you!
