Members shared warm support and exchanged countless hugs while discussing mysterious stabbing pains between the stomach and chest that doctors often struggle to diagnose. Several members offered potential explanations based on their own experiences, including costochondritis (inflammation of rib cartilage), hernias (hiatal and sliding), and ankylosing spondylitis-related chest pain, with practical relief strategies like massage, stretching, and simply riding out the brief but intense episodes. A recurring theme was the frustration of living with unexplained pain that medical professionals cannot pinpoint, coupled with deep gratitude for small blessings and the comfort of knowing others understand what it's like to hurt in ways that seem invisible.

When I have a sharp chest pain it is very painful to inhale till it subsides. Turns out it's costochondritis, or inflammation of the cartilage between your ribs, or rib and breastbone. Doesn't usually last very long, but is super intense!

Hi Barbara,
I never finished what I was saying about Spondy. But I do beleive it and some of us suffer so much I get upset when I read their post. Like how you are feeling and dizzy and all. I really hope that you feel much better and everyone else too.

I have pains all throughout my chest, sometimes stabbing, sometimes like a pierce. It isn’t my heart is what I’m told but no one will give me an answer. I was diagnosed with undifferenciated spondylitis 20+ years ago. My Mom and sister are HLA-B27 positive I am negative. but have all the symptoms. I’ve heard this chest pain is a normal thing for AS though.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member Thank you so much. I was just sitting here thinking my pain is not so bad today. Then I realized I have so much pressure in my lower back I am about ready to cry. I guess I am getting so used to hurting that I don't even realize how bad I feel. It is only when I stand up that I really hurt. I can usually make it to the bathroom but coming back it hurts so bad I walk hunched over just to try to get some relief. I sit down and it takes around fifteen minutes to feel (normal) again. I wish you a very blessed day.

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for saying that I laughed when you sent that to me. That is cause they do not know what to say. I find it so hard to believe that Spondy causes all it does.
Have a great night sending you many hugs. I like that picture you are using now.
