Sorry to hear this Sue and I do hope they can sort things out for you. I know with spinal cord injuries it can affect both bowels and bladder this way, did they rule out any spinal compressions? Try joining this wonderful organisation as there is good info on bowel care and management, it is free to sign up but the file I would have liked to show you is a members only file (I am a member). https://www.spinal.co.uk/

Wishing you a brighter day tomorrow x x

Sue this past April I had a colostomy and having spondylitis I know some people hate colostomies but for me it was the best thing I ever did once they found the right stuff I needed. After going through the hell I went through before I really would not have mine reversed. Mine can be reversed but as long as its working good I actually feel better. Yes I have pain 24/7 from the spindly but yes a colostomy can be very overwhelming but so far I have had no problems. Good luck to you.

Sue Walters, can you not carry on with the irrigation? My husband has a colostomy so I know what is involved, where the bowel comes out of the skin, the stoma can get very sore from the acidity of the liquid coming out, he has a type called an ileostomy which is not as far along the digestive tract as a colostomy. You don't have any sort of cancer but a lack of feeling, wouldn't giving yourself an enema be possible? My husband really hates having a stoma and the associated problems it causes such as leaking and bursting on occasions. I would not go for this unless you have exhausted all other options. It can be painful and unpleasant and once done there is no going back. Hope you can find a better option, definitely ask for more than one doctors opinion.
