My lower back pain is excruciating today. I flew to TX for a business trip and am now suffering. Having issues standing as the pain is so bad. What works best, heat or ice, to push through the day until I can fly home again?
I use a heating pad and that works the best for me. My orthopedic doctor says ice for new injuries, heat for old injuries. Plus, the ice caused more pain in my nerves.
Good response...i go to the pool also..trying to twist shake and whatever..to take my mind off this chronic pain...i also do dry kneedling at physical therapy..
I'm on Gabapentin 600mg 3 times a day. A hot bath soak and after I put on a Flector patch. All of the above lasts but a short while.
I’m struggling with a constant “it’s hot, now I’m cold” dilemma during the day. Then when I go to bed, my body is sweating at a disgusting rate. Then I’m freezing. It’s really impacting my ability to get a a good nights sleep
The sweating seems to be along my neck and spine where the AS is the worst. Is it the AS

I found these capsaicin patches at Walgreens and CVS. I put them in my back. They peel off a plastic and have little holes like masking tape. They have “substance P” in capsaicin - cayenne pepper… read more
I had surgery, worked well for me.
Just wondering who else has neck pain and how common it is? I already had a double fusion for Cervical Myelopathy in 2020. My neck seems to bother me more than my back. Everyday it is on fire and feels very warm. I was told I also have AS at the Occipito-Atlanto-Axial Region.
Just wondering how common of a symptom this is? Thanks.
Hi Amy, I sure do try! Hope you're having a better day!! Enjoy...!!!
Heating pad UNDER head and neck, with cold pack ON head helps
Ask your doctor about potential medication that will help. You don't have to suffer.
When I am in a flare I feel feverish, sick and pain goes to another level.
I often say it feels like all my muscles, mainly spinal and shoulders and neck feel like they spasm.
My nerves feel like they are firing for no reason. Like frayed wires. The pain is agonizing and overwhelming.
The fatigue is overwhelming and everything annoys me. My husband, my son and even my furry critters! 😔
Marnee, i can certainly empathize with you!! I get so aggravated with myself even
If my eyes aren't too blurry from uveitis, i love to get into a good book!! But first, have to get as comfortable… read more
