I Have A Question

So my PCP had been taking care of my daily pain after my fractured spine and several other issues showed up on my MRI including a few bulging discs, spondylosis, degenerative disc disease and a couple other issues so now will my pain specialist help me with my pain? Do I ask him? He didn't prescribe me anything on my first visit because my PCP had given me enough to make it through to my specialist appointment and if he doesn't prescribe me anything will I go through withdrawal? I've been… read more

Also why go to a pain specialist who's afraid to prescribe opiates? I understand that there's an opioid crisis in our country but patients who are suffering shouldn't be denied proper care?

Find a good Pain Management Doctor. He will be helpful, patient, kind, caring, and informative. Mine is. When he walks into the exam room he gives me ALL the time I need to "unload".
I too share your diagnosis (except for the broken back). I have undergone three surgeries to my spine, two lumbar 1-4 and one cervical. I have two implants as well. But all those procedures aren't "all the answers". I still need periodic injections and medication, that doesn't include opioids.
My "PM doctor" has guided me well with exercise to strengthen my supporting back muscles, counciling to strengthen my spirit, mindfulness to overcome pains hold on me, and safe medication. He keeps a watchful eye. And for that I am so greatful πŸ™!

Hi TY everyone my Spondylosis is now Spondylisthes which is so painful and my pain specialist"s answer to this was to take me off medication that was allowing me to function and switched me to Tramadol which does absolutely nothing and Ido advocate for myself but he doesn't listen 😞 I feel like I'm going backwards? Does he not believe me? My MRI clearly shows my spine has several painful issues going on? The women in the office said their practice is doing this to everyone? I don't abuse my medication I've never failed a toxicology screening? I think treatment should be based upon each individual not treat everyone the same? I've been suffering now for a month and I'm supposed to see him tomorrow but what for? To beg for medication that works? 3 months ago he implanted a lego sized chip in my right Sacroiliac joints but didn't do the right side which the surgeon recommended so when I asked him he basically ignored me all he said was oh that was just for diagnostic purposes? What?? I said was I bone on bone? What did you see? Again no response? I honestly don't know what to do at this point? I requested to see the surgeon and I am in December to explain everything that's happened they're in the same practice I'm willing to have surgery if it will help me 😞
