Yes it can ... the natural form of the foot is not being supported and puts everything (ankles, knees, hips, spine) all out of line.. also you walk harder underfoot too.. best shoes have an instep built in, birkenstocks and fitflop are the best x hope this helps
I am certain footware can affect pain levels as it all affects your spinal balance and what your spine has become accustomed to Bernie. I tend to wear a pair of Birkenstocks in the house and decent trainers or walking shoes outdoors. Both recommended by my chiropodist/podiatrist x
My podiatrist gave me some insoles to wear in my shoes and recommended the sandles for summer that have shaped soles, they are expensive but worth it.
I have worn custom orthotics for many years. I can barely walk without them. I would suggest getting some from a podiatrist.
