I have full fusion in my neck area. It is fused in a head downward position. I was wondering if anyone might know if wearing a neck brace several times a day might help to straighten neck to a more normal position ? I know most here with AS are not in the complete fusion stage ( and I hope never are), but maybe someone might know if this might help.
Thank you Sarah—- I wish I was told that years ago before it fused. Now I am fused pretty much the way the above illustration shows. Best wishes for you.
I wear one of those pretty neck pillows you see people on planes wear. And I wear it everywhere. My doctor likes me to wear it so my neck will not be in the head down position if I fuse.
I would think that using a brace to try and "retrain" the fused bone may put you at risk of fracturing it instead. Definitely ask a doctor.
My neck is used in the right picture position . I was thinking a brace my help pull it back some . But since it is fused it probably wouldn’t help much
Not good, you neck has a natural curve well mine didn't it was straightening so when they went in to trim out facets they put a rod in to hold in the curve,, you need surgery
