Mayo Clinic
A MySpondylitisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone been to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,MN? My body is building Anti-bodies to every biologic they give me. To the point I've been in the hospital 3 times in the last 6 months because I almost died from them. My Rheumatologist told me I have an antibody disorder. Does anyone else have this problem? What was done to help you?

The way I even was sent to see the type of Dr. that I am currently seeing was because I became so I'll I lost a lot of weight from bring nauseous all the time I had no appetite and the smell of food would make me I'll, it was 100 times worse than my worst case of seven months of 24 hour day of morning sickness. Finally my Dr did a test for my stomach which was fine but it showed that I needed 2 total hip replacements (I was not having any pain in my hips). Prior to having the first hip done I had to see a hematology Dr. I have had a history of blood clots since I was a teen, always thought they were related to injury now I'm not sure. The Dr told me then this was 2009 that I had a homocystin level that were elevated. I was told there was no cure to take vitamins and follow up appointment. So I had to have a filter put in my aorta to protect me from clots. Well anyway fast forward to a few months and I had some issues saw a hematology Dr whee I live now who seems to be so much more informed and to take an actual interest in me as a patient and a person just the type of a Dr that all should be. So I was just wandering if you have any problems with blood clots or anything also I always had swollen lymph glands that were painful they would just go from one place to another. My thoughts and prayers are sent your way in hopes that you soon have the answers to your questions. And that you may be on a quick road to recovering your health. God bless!

Hi Lisa!

I hope your Dr finds the answers for you. I am still waiting for the Mayo Clinic to call me. They said they have to consult with my Drs and other Drs at the Mayo before I can get an appointment. I know they consulted with my Dr last Friday. Hopefully they will call me this week with an appointment. For now, my Dr will not give me any meds. I’m walking around with 100.4 fever everyday and stiff and achy all day.

As soon as I get an answer about the antibody disorder I will post it.

My best wishes to you. Let me know what happens with your test. Hugs!

Hi I just seen your post and I am very curious as to what type of antibody problems it is that you have. I am waiting on the second round of tests to confirm my diagnosis of APS. I am in my early 50s and have suffered since I was a teen with so much the doctor I seen six weeks ago said that he just doest believe how all of the past doctors missed it and just dismissed how I felt. So all of this is new to me even though I am in the nursing field it will be a learning process but at least there is an answer.

@A MySpondylitisTeam Member , that is horrible! I didn’t have pain in my hips either. It was in my lower back. That is a little better since I had them done. I don’t have any issues with blood clots, but I do get sick all the time with bleeding Ulcers in my stomach and swollen lymph nodes. I have the opposite of blood clots, I don’t have enough platelets so I bleed and bruise very easily. I hope you are having a good day today. Hugs to you!
